Editorial Reviews: This kit includes the everything you need to build your own high performance 3x power cantenna for WarDriving or WiFi range extension in one hour or less. Imagine receiving a WiFi signal from more than ½ mile (~1 km.) The assembly is so simple, even a child could assemble it with the supervision of an adult. This cantenna design was featured on the internet and in Engadget magazine. Included are two (2) high-quality N-type female connectors: one is a bulkhead (round) connector and one is a chassis/panel (square) connector to build two (2) cantennas. Each connector has a pre-soldered polished brass radiator (driven element) that is precisely machined for optimum performance. Also included are two 1/4"x20 tripod mounts so that you can attach your finished home-built cantenna to any standard table-top or photographic tripod (tripod not included.) All that is needed to complete the kit is an empty household tin can like a large soup, stew or chilli can. Tools required are a screwdriver and a hammer. *** The kit has several models - all models are fully compatible with 802.11b and 802.11g - Please consult our Amazon Merchants Help section or Artic Manufacturing's online help for information on which model will best fit your WiFi device. Models are available for RP-SMA (fits most WiFi PCI cards, and D-Link routers,) RP-TNC (fits most Cisco and Linksys routers,) MC (Lucent/Orinoco/Proxim), MMCX (Cisco/Engenius PCMCIA cards), RP-MMCX (SMC), and u.FL (mini-PCI) connectors. The self-powered USB model is compatible with all PCs and Macs and gives a range of up to 10x the power of regular WiFi. Ranges of 1 mile (1.6 km) or more have been achieved with the USB model. Actual range is dependent on environmental conditions and local interference. Full easy-to-read instructions are included.
